The SUMS Portal allows users to access time of use utilities data in 15 minute intervals, 24 hours a day, empowering you to make decisions based on what’s happening now. Understanding your unique usage patterns will enable you to be more proactive and react to unexpected changes faster. Log in as frequently or as little or as you need. Unlimited customisable alerts sent to your email and/or mobile will ensure you never miss the important things.

Giving you access to the data you need from main and sub meters. As the saying goes, you can’t manage what you don’t measure; SUMS Data Logging is typically a non-invasive way to gain access to your water, electricity and gas usage data. SUMS utilises leading technology to deliver 15-minute interval data via mobile network to the SUMS portal, or another building management system BMS of your choosing. Our data logging solutions suit both large and small applications. To match the best technologies to your unique site and objectives, we’ll complete an initial audit onsite when possible and recommend main and sub metering locations in line with your budget.

SUMS XM Data Logger — Our most popular solution; available as battery or mains powered, with a sturdy and waterproof enclosure, and ready to record and send data from almost any pulse-capable utility meter.
SUMS Automatic Meter Reading — AMR — We offer a multi-logger hardwired option or a LoRa wireless option to monitor hundreds of meters at a single site. Both solutions can FTP time-stamped data to the web for true AMR and also features a face panel so AMR readings can be easily recorded on site.
Embedded networks — A private network of electricity or hot water meters using radio or wired technology, sent to a 3rd party for billing.
Data Feeds and FTP — Receive daily and historical data feeds directly to your SUMS portal, or send data via FTP to your existing BMS.

FAQs

How does it work?
We tailor our solution to your specific needs, however, here’s how it most commonly works:
1. We install our data loggers on existing utility meters and/or can import data from 3rd party platforms. We can also install new meters if your meters are not pulse capable (often more than 20 years old) or would like to expand sub metering locations.
2. You access your data through the SUMS portal, set up alerts and use near real time usage data to save money and time.
3. If you need help or are ready for more in-depth analytics, we provide customer support and training, static reports, live dashboards, leak detection, and whatever else you need to reach your business goals with SUMS.
In order to gain a complete picture of your assets, we recommend monitoring a mixture of main meters and sub meters.

How do I access the portal?
The SUMS Portal is a web based service; all you need is a web-capable device, whether it be your computer, tablet, or smartphone. We’ll set up and share your log in details after installation.
I already have my own platform and don’t need to use the SUMS Portal; can I just use your data logging technology?
Yes! For any of our technology solutions, interval data files can be exported to 3^rd party software platforms.
I already have a data logger on my meter; can I just use the SUMS portal?
Yes! We can integrate with most hardware and 3^rd party data collection software to receive utility data on the SUMS portal. We prefer receiving data by FTP, but are happy to work with you if this is not an option.
How granular is the data on the SUMS portal?
Utilities data is shown down to 15 minute intervals, providing highly detailed time of use information. Chart intervals can also be set to hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and customised to show specific periods, like replicating your billing period to check utility bills.
What type of data loggers do you use?
We have been developing our data loggers for over 10 years, designed by us and assembled here in Australia. So that the data loggers can stand up to your toughest requirements, we use Telstra for the most wide reaching network coverage, a sturdy and waterproof enclosure and have recently improved battery life from 2 years to over 8 years!

SUMS wireless technology may give customers a better solution for large sites with dozens or more meter connections.

We also use DIGI products for our tank monitoring and use a DIGI data logger with analogue input compatibility when necessary.

How many meters can I log at once?
Whether you have 1 meter or thousands, we have flexible solutions to fit your site requirements. So far our record is 444 connections at one site. However, more commonly our customers have less than 5 connections per site.
What is a data feed and FTP?
Data feeds—an option for customers with comms-enabled electricity meters—are streams of meter usage data imported daily into the SUMS portal from external sources such as from your electricity meter provider.

FTP, or file transfer protocol, is simply a standard way to electronically transfer computer files to and from our server.
How invasive is the install? Will I need to shut off my water, power or gas?
Attaching data loggers to meters is minimally invasive; in most case we don’t have to shut off the water or electricity.
