The City of Sydney’s Smart Green Apartments program aims to improve the environmental and cost efficiency of apartment buildings across the local government area. The City is investing in twenty residential strata buildings annually over the next ten years to reduce energy and water use, improve waste management and demonstrate the sustainability potential across this sector.
In recognition of their commitment to residential strata, SUMS group was successfully awarded a tender in 2016 to work with the City in the delivery of the Smart Green Apartments program. SUMS is configuring a comprehensive and easy to access data portal to all participating buildings. This will allow building representatives and the City of Sydney to view historical and interval data, analyse usage patterns and identify opportunities for improvement. It will also provide owners corporations with evidence of real savings obtained through implemented upgrades and operational improvements. The data portal is a key component of the City’s ongoing capacity building initiatives to create sustainability leaders within the apartments sector.
